We are a traditional Chinese restaurant offering Chinese dishes during lunch and evening sittings with the options of à la carte or set menus. Our specialty Yum Cha dishes are available during lunch sitting. Should you decide to dine in the comfort of your TV lounge, takeaways are available.
At North and South, our menu features all the usual Chinese favourites, starting with the famous Peking Duck, Honey BBQ Pork and Crispy Roast Pork. Our steamed fish, Egg Fu Young, Sizzling Steak and Hot Pot dishes also come highly recommended.
We have many more delicious dishes to offer. We pride ourselves on serving fresh food, packed with flavour, and we have a variety of vegetarian and vegan meals on offer. Reservations are recommended, especially as we get very busy over the weekend.
Traditional Chinese meals are available between 11:00am and 2:30pm, and in the evenings between 5:00pm – 9:30pm (Yum Cha only available during lunch sittings).
Yum Cha is a culinary tradition that originated in China, and if you have yet to discover it, you’re in for a treat. The term Yum Cha translates to “drink tea”, and is the age-old Chinese tradition of drinking tea and sharing food
with friends and family. This has become very popular throughout New Zealand in recent years, and we are proud to offer this specialty.
Yum cha is designed for large groups of friends and family, as each dish has 3 – 4 small servings, allowing you to sample a wide variety of traditional Chinese cuisine.
Our famous Yum Cha is also a favourite whether encased in flaky pastry or the traditional soft fluffy white steamed bun, through to our steamed dumplings, BBQ Pork Bun. North and South’s Yum Cha is very customer friendly, so if you’re new to the experience, or new to traditional Chinese dining, our friendly staff will look after you.
During Yum Cha weekend service, the dishes come out of our bustling kitchen thick and fast, in no particular order. Sit back and relax as plate upon plate passes by your table on a trolley (Trolley is weekends only – by menu during week days), while you pick and choose the dishes that look the most appealing to you. Tuck in to your favourite dishes and don’t be afraid to try something new! If you need any help, ask the friendly staff.
